Day of Mourning April 28, 2015
April 1, 2015  CCOHS
The National Day of Mourning, held annually on April 28, is a time to remember and reflect on lives lost in the workplace. It is also a time to resolve to prevent future tragedies. The Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety has beautiful posters available for sale or as free PDF downloads.

The loss of a loved one is always a heart wrenching, traumatic time for family and friends with the impacts felt for a lifetime. Losing a loved one to a workplace accident also creates its own set of personal demons...it is impossible not ask how an accident could have been prevented. Survivor's guilt can plague company owners, managers, supervisors and coworkers, leading to a series of detrimental results such as loss of morale and productivity.

On this day, take the time to renew your pledge to safety...because you  matter.

If you or a family member have been affected by a workplace accident please visit Threads of Life, a Canadian organization which supports workers and their families who are affected by life-altering workplace injuries, illnesses and deaths.

Accidents in the workplace not only cause product loss but also threatens the life of the workers. So, safety guidelines should be strictly implemented in the workplace to prevent accidents and subsequent product loss. Lack of safety awareness among the workers is solely responsible for a number of accidents. So, workers should be properly trained about the safety factors which should be taken into consideration to reduce the possibilities of accidents.
