The GWO BST Full Suite Training in Kingston is a 4-day Global Wind Organization (GWO) Basic Safety Training program designed for anyone working on or around wind turbines. This internationally recognized certification covers all four core modules--Working at Heights, First Aid, Fire Awareness and Manual Handling—and is WINDA approved. Whether you are entering the wind industry for the first time or renewing your certification, our GWO BST Full Suite course in Canada ensures you meet the highest safety standards required for global renewable energy projects.
All Ontario-based GWO training is delivered by Safety Guys under license from MCL Height Safety. GWO Training will be conducted exclusively at our Kingston, Ontario training centre.

To make sure everyone gets the most out of training — and stays safe — please review the following requirements before registering:
Full Initial GWO Package
WORKING AT HEIGHTS THEORY - 1 DAY
- Overview of legislation and legal responsibilities related to working at height.
- Fall protection systems: types, methods and appropriate applications.
- Anchor points: classifications, selection and setup.
- Choosing and maintaining equipment: usage guidelines, pre-use checks and inspection procedures.
- Understanding fall factors and managing suspension intolerance.
- Emergency response planning and procedures.
WORKING AT HEIGHTS PRACTICAL - 1 DAY
- Proper selection, fitting and setup of personal fall protection equipment.
- Safe use of mobile energy-absorbing and work-positioning lanyards.
- Operation and application of horizontal and vertical lifeline systems.
- Hands-on installation of fall protection systems and components.
- Practical use of work restraint, positioning, and fall arrest equipment in various scenarios.
FIRST AID/CPR - 1 DAY
- Principles of GWO first aid and emergency response for the wind industry
- Casualty assessment, primary/secondary surveys, and decision-making
- CPR for adults and safe use of AEDs (as required by GWO first aid training)
- Bleeding control, shock management, and treatment of burns, fractures, and sprains
- Safe casualty handling, recovery positions, and evacuation coordination
- Documentation and reporting to meet GWO first aid requirements
MANUAL HANDLING - HALF DAY
- Principles of safe manual handling and ergonomics under the GWO framework
- How to assess risks before lifting or moving loads in wind turbine environments
- Correct lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling techniques taught in the GWO Manual Handling course
- How to reduce strain and prevent musculoskeletal injuries
- Safe use of tools and equipment to support manual handling tasks
- Compliance with GWO Manual Handling training standards for certification
FIRE AWARENESS - HALF DAY
- Principles of fire combustion and common hazards taught in the GWO Fire Awareness course
- How to identify and reduce fire risks in turbines and related facilities
- Correct selection and use of firefighting equipment as part of GWO fire awareness training
- Safe and effective emergency response techniques
- Evacuation procedures for offshore and onshore environments
- Compliance with GWO Fire Awareness certification standards
