Details

Every movement matters. Whether it’s lifting, stacking, or operating equipment, the way we handle materials shapes how safe, strong, and productive our workplaces become.
  • This course blends the essentials of Manual Material Handling (MMH) with hands-on training for order pickers, walkie stackers, and powered pallet jacks.
  • Through real-world practice and clear instruction, participants learn how to move materials safely, prevent strain injuries, and operate powered equipment with confidence.
  • Training follows Ontario’s OHSA, CSA B335-15, and industry best practices - ensuring you leave not only certified, but capable.

The final length of the course will ultimately depend on the number of students, their experience levels and class participation during discussions and practical training. Recertification every three years is recommended; recertification takes approximately 2 hours.
Contact us for pricing and scheduling, or to discuss bundle options that combine Manual Material Handling with powered equipment training such as order pickers, walkie stackers, and pallet jacks.

Who Should Attend?

Manual Material Handling training is essential for anyone who lifts, carries, pushes, pulls, or moves materials as part of their job. Strains, sprains, and overexertion injuries are some of the most common and preventable injuries in Ontario workplaces — and strong MMH training helps workers stay safe, confident, and injury-free.
  • Warehouse and distribution centre workers
  • Manufacturing and production staff
  • Retail and stockroom employees
  • Construction labourers and tradespeople
  • Healthcare, long-term care, and support workers
  • Hospitality and service staff
  • Maintenance and facilities workers
  • Delivery drivers handling packages, materials, or equipment
  • New and young workers learning safe lifting habits
  • Supervisors and JHSC members involved in ergonomic assessments
Anyone who performs physical tasks — especially lifting or carrying — benefits from this course. Workers learn how to assess loads, use proper body mechanics, reduce strain, and prevent the repetitive-stress injuries that lead to lost-time incidents.
