Winery Safety Training in Prince Edward County, Ontario
Behind every great bottle of wine is a team of people working hard — in the vineyard, the cellar, the warehouse, and the tasting room.

While winemaking may seem calm and artisanal, wineries are complex workplaces that combine agriculture, manufacturing, and hospitality — and each comes with its own set of hazards.
Wineries Are Workplaces Under Ontario’s OHSA
Under Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), wineries are legally required to protect their workers and provide information, instruction, and supervision to ensure safety.
  • That includes everyone — from year-round cellar staff to seasonal vineyard workers and part-time tasting room attendants.
  • Safety training helps wineries meet these legal obligations while reducing injury risks, improving productivity, and demonstrating due diligence to the MLITSD or WSIB in the event of an inspection or incident.

At Safety Guys, we make safety practical for the wine industry.
Winery safety training sessions for Ontario vineyard
On-site training allows Safety Guys to tailor each session to your workplace. Clients are encouraged to share their in-house policies and procedures so we can integrate them directly into the training.

This course can be delivered from our new
Base 31 Satellite Training Centre in Prince Edward County or directly on-site at your winery.

who should attend

Winery operations blend agriculture, production, hospitality, and equipment use — all of which bring unique safety hazards. These training packages are ideal for any worker or supervisor involved in vineyard, cellar, tasting room, or production activities in Ontario.
  • Vineyard workers and seasonal crews handling pruning, harvesting, tractor work, and field operations
  • Cellar hands and production staff working with pumps, chemicals, CO₂, fermentation spaces, and confined or restricted areas
  • Forklift and equipment operators moving barrels, pallets, grapes, or materials
  • Tasting room and hospitality staff who need WHMIS, violence/harassment, and emergency response awareness
  • Supervisors, lead hands, and owners overseeing daily operations and safety compliance
  • Maintenance and facilities staff working with ladders, chemicals, and machinery
  • Family-run farm wineries where all team members share responsibilities across departments
  • New or returning seasonal employees who require orientation and foundational safety training
  • Contractors performing work on winery property (construction, HVAC, electrical, landscaping)
These training packages help wineries stay compliant with Ontario’s OHSA while building a stronger, safer, and more confident team -  from the vineyard rows to the production floor to the tasting room.
