the Details

Working around asbestos calls for calm, careful, and confident workers. Our Asbestos Worker Training (Type 1 & 2) gives people the knowledge and hands-on practice they need to recognize asbestos-containing materials (ACM), prevent exposure, and follow the right steps for safe small-scale handling and removal.

This course follows Ontario’s Designated Substances Regulation (O. Reg. 490/09) and breaks the work down into clear, practical skills: how to assess a situation, choose proper controls, set up a simple containment, and use ventilation and PPE to limit fibres in the air.

Participants get time to practice what they learn - from building basic enclosures to learning contamination control and cleanup procedures. These exercises help workers feel prepared before stepping onto a job site.

By choosing this training, employers reinforce a strong safety culture, reduce exposure risks, and meet their obligations under provincial regulations - all while giving their people the confidence to do the work safely.

Ontario asbestos safety training for Type 1 and 2 operations
We teach workers how to stay steady, think ahead, and protect themselves and their team.

Who Should Attend?

This Asbestos Worker Training is designed for anyone who may disturb, handle, or work near asbestos-containing materials (ACM) during maintenance, repairs, renovations, or cleanup. Type 1 and Type 2 operations involve small-scale asbestos work, but the risks are still significant  - which is why proper training is required under Ontario’s Designated Substances Regulation (O. Reg. 490/09).

This course is ideal for:
  • Construction workers and apprentices
  • Maintenance and facilities staff
  • Plumbers, electricians, HVAC technicians, and other trades
  • Property managers and building operators
  • Restoration and remediation workers
  • General contractors and subcontractors
  • Demolition and renovation crews
  • Custodial and cleaning staff who may disturb ACM
  • Supervisors, lead hands, and JHSC members overseeing asbestos-related tasks
Anyone who works around older building materials such as plaster, flooring, pipe insulation, ceiling tiles, drywall compound, or mechanical insulation can benefit from this training. Participants learn how to identify ACM, use proper PPE, set up simple enclosures, control dust, and follow safe handling and cleanup procedures to prevent exposure.
