surface mining Common Core (770210)

R.R.O. 1990, REGULATION 854  MINES AND MINING PLANTS
All production employees, working full and part-time, in a Surface Mining operation, must be trained in the Surface Miner Common Core and the specialty modules for machines they will operate. Surface Mining Operations fall under R.R.O. 1990, Reg. 854: MINES AND MINING PLANTS under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Section 11 requires that employers train new employees, and maintain training for all employees.

  1. Work Safely in the Municipal Pit and Quarry Environment  - U6320
  2. Lock out and Tag Mobile or Portable Equipment and Stored Energy - U6321
  3. ​Operate Hand Tools - U6322

Course Length: 16 hours (2 days)

HOW TO BECOME FULLY ACCREDITED

To become fully accredited by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) under the Surface Miner Program:
  • participants must return to their workplace and demonstrate their skills and understanding of the company's specific requirements to a qualified trainer
  • be signed off and registered with the MLITSD by their company's signing authority.

Demonstration of knowledge includes government legislation, company standards, and manufacturer specifications.
