the DETAILS

Rigging is more than lifting a load - it’s knowing how to assess risks, choose safe hardware, calculate sling angles, and communicate clearly with your team. Our Rigging and Hoisting course gives workers the skills to lift and move loads safely while meeting Ontario OHSA, CSA, and Construction Regulation 213/91 requirements.

Training covers rigging inspection, load weight and centre of gravity, the rigging triangle, safe operating practices, and lift planning. It also includes the definition of lifting devices under Ontario’s Regulations for Industrial Establishments and the responsibilities that come with hoisting work.

For companies that use overhead cranes, we offer a combined Overhead Crane + Rigging and Hoisting course, blending crane controls with practical rigging techniques to build confident operators.

Who Should Attend?

Rigging and hoisting work demands skill, good judgement, and a solid understanding of how loads move. This course is designed for workers who lift, move, or guide loads using cranes, hoists, slings, hooks, or rigging hardware on construction sites and in industrial facilities.
  • Construction workers, apprentices, and labourers involved in material handling
  • Contractors working around hoisting operations
  • Skilled trades such as ironworkers, millwrights, mechanical staff, and boilermakers
  • Industrial and manufacturing workers who support crane or hoist operations
  • Warehouse and yard personnel who lift or transfer heavy materials
  • Telehandler and equipment operators assisting with rigged loads
  • Overhead crane operators needing foundational rigging knowledge
  • Signalers and spotters guiding crane or hoisting operations
  • Supervisors and lead hands responsible for lift planning and worker safety
  • Maintenance teams handling equipment installation or component lifts
Anyone involved in lifting, securing, attaching, or moving loads can benefit from this training. The course teaches workers how to choose the right hardware, calculate load angles, inspect slings, understand capacity charts, maintain stability, and communicate clearly during lifts — all essential skills under Ontario’s OHSA and CSA standards.
